T's About To Spill: D1NT

Like wow. It's been a while. Anyway, since I came back to Guam, I've drowned myself in school work, tutoring sessions, and volleyball tryouts. Fun mixture. Oh, and sprinkle in some GPO-strolling, a favorite of mine.

So let me tell you about my tutoring sessions. They are hilarious, for one. The ten-year-old boy, Miguel, is thought by his mother to have ADD. Well, I think so too. And so does Elisa. For the past week, (well, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday; only Friday for Elisa) I have been trying to get him to read and perform addition and subtraction expeditiously. Fortunately, he's okay at math. But this does not and cannot make up for his poor reading skills. He is...nicely put, semi-literate. On the other hand, his problem isn't so much as reading as it is TRYING. Honestly. The boy does NOT like to try new things. And his older brother isn't much of a help either.

Now the school stuff. I attended a campus cleanup last week, and it was crazy. I did a lot of work, ate one donut too much, stole an apple, and got paint on my shoes. And Dar's classmate Alfredo wrote in banana mush the word HELLO on our hood. (Yes, it's that nursing class again.) Last Thursday, I went to the orientation and sat down for thirty minutes to listen to an H1N1 presentation. One thing I learned (though not something new): Bring hanitizer (hand sanitizer). Subsequently, the SCSC went up and did their presentation. Yes, me too. It was really awkward at the end because we weren't sure whether to do it. Then the slide with the word BOOM came on, and all the attendees were like, WTH. After that, the administators came up and did a really funny presentation. I don't want to go into detail. At least, not right now.

As for volleyball tryouts...they're fine. We're really in desperate need for a setter. (Was that redundant?) Oh, and a middle. It turns out that the only freshman who was a middle, is going to Okkodo. As of right now, I'm trying to convince a transfer-student to try out for setter. However, she strongly believes that she is a strong power hitter. (Hey, I don't know how she hits, so I'm not going to agree just yet.) But she doesn't have her physical yet, and she thinks the soonest is August 9. (worried sigh, if there is such a thing)

How am I doing in the tryouts? Well, I could be better, as can everyone else. I think I just have to work on my hitting now. But yeah. They've tried me in all the positions, except for setter. And YES, I did have to scrimmage as a middle [front] too.

Speaking of volleyball, I went to the SHANK! clinics today and found out that this is their last clinic for now. Haha.

About the title...D1NT is the shortcut name or whatever you call it, for DoOneNiceThing.com. Check it out!
