T's About To Spill: Banquet, Lonesome George, and Other Things on my Mind

Wow. I haven't posted in a while, so let me just (cracks knuckles, rotates head) warm up a bit. Blahblahblahblahblah...Okay, I still got it.

Anyways, today, my family went dress shopping! Well, apparently not all of us. Wait...rewind a bit. I finished reading Angels & Demons, a 569-page book. I got it last Sunday from my neighbor Everard, and finished it today. Let's see...that's a little less than 100 pages a day! Yay me(:

Back to the dress-hunting part of today. First, we went to this little vintage place. Dar found some cool stuff, and I...Well, let's just say I may have contracted some sort of allergic reaction to dust. (My eyes were watery and I was sneezing all over the place; I felt like some nerdy kid. I mean, who's allergic to dust?) But whatever.

After that, I went to Ross. I looked around a little and got separated from my sister. Who cares, I thought. She doesn't approve any of the dresses I want to try out. So I texted my mom and asked where she was. A minute later, someone called, "Tam?" I looked, and there was my mom. (:

As soon as she came, I asked, "Mom, is this dress nice?" while pointing to a white, strapless dress that was poofy at the bottom and had some kind of gothic flower design around my leg area. She agreed, and helped me scan the aisle for more. She held out a faded, clothy, light blue, oddly-designed halter-top dress that I've seen more than ten times in this aisle. "Uhh...no." Then I found a cute dark purple and green dress with sleeves. We both agreed it was adorable. Then I chose this beautiful, Caribbean-style, strapped dress. I thought it was stunning. The next thing you know, Dar comes toward me carrying a light green party dress. It would have been perfect for a prom, if it wasn't for its material. I consented to try it on. My mom suggested we find a couple more dresses, so I grabbed a bright, large-flowered, strapless dress that screamed Tami.

Dressing room time. I carried 4 dresses, my mom carried 2 (one for me, one for Dar), and Dar carried 5. It was a very long line. After the wait, I found a dressing room and tried on the Caribbean one first. Perfect fit. I called my mom in, and she commented on my being a little bit flat-chested. (Excu-uuse me?) Nevertheless, I loved the dress, and took a picture with my phone. Next, I tried on the white one. That one fit terribly. I called my mom in, and we both shook our heads at my reflection. I held back the upper part with my arms to take a decent picture. After that, I tried my sister's suggested green dress. It was way too low, if you know what I mean. I called my mom in and said, "This is kind of skimpy, don't you think?" She nodded. I took a picture. Then I tried on the bright one with large flowers. It was very...empty. Haha, meaning I didn't (well, parts of me didn't) fill in the dress completely. Who cares. It was too expected of me to wear something like that anyway. After that, I tried on the dress that looked perfect for a doll. There was something wrong with the side-zipper, and my mom had to help me. It fit nicely, and my mom thought it would be nice for church. So I didn't get it. Plus, the zipper still didn't work. I took a picture, and changed back into my normal clothes.

We went to K-Mart next, to fill my dad's craving of Caesar's pizza. (I don't know what's so special about it.) He met a friend of his, who in turn met a friend of his, and they all started chatting. Boring stuff, if you ask me. But the pizza was good.

Then we came home. It was about 3. Oh my. I have homework to do. So to the computer I went. That's when I found out about Lonesome George, the lone Pinta Island tortoise. So I decided to do my research paper (for Bunoan) on him. It was fun.

Then I tried on my dress again. And while I stood in front of the mirror for a couple of minutes, I heard the neighbors outside, apparently trying to catch a rooster. Innocent kids. I decided to take them by surprise by playing a song on my phone really loud. And that I did. They looked around for a few seconds, then eventually looked up at my window. Thank goodness my lights were off. Haha, it was funny.

Then I took off my dress and decided to blog. Which is what I've been doing for the past hour. (Yeah, it takes me that long to publish a post this long. I edit a lot.) Now my parents are home from another date (to watch Angels & Demons), and I'm listening to Beethoven's 9th Symphony. Good stuff. And now I have an urge to try on my dress again.
