T's About To Spill: Second Paddling Race

Paddling is like, the second best sport in the world (first would definitely have to be volleyball). I love my teammates. They're so chill.

With that said, I'll move on to our games; we had our second race this morning. Our Manhoeben girls were in the first heat, and I was really not that ready. I did feel pretty good after the warm-up though. Oh, and I was sitting in seat four. I know, right?! How crazy is that? It was alright I guess, but when we turned (uni-kahi), I was one of the three who had to keep paddling. It was so hard. You really have to PULL.

Anyway, since I was sitting in an "engine room" seat (seats 3, 4, 5), I expected to be paddling my heart out, but it felt like I did more work in seat one than I did in seat 4. I guess that's because whenever I sit in seat one, I get all this adrenaline and the only thing going through my mind is winning that heat. But whatever.

For the next three races that I paddled in, (Manhoeben mixed, Manhoeben girls round two, Manhoeben mixed round two) I was stroking. I can't express how much I love sitting there. It feels like you're controlling the team. I don't know, but stroking is so...beautiful (couldn't find a better adjective, sorry). Nevertheless, I feel guilty for messing up the uni-kahi a little bit. I didn't really hear Mia say "Uni", but I did hear her say (quite panicky, I may add) "Tami, UNI!". My bad.

After the Manhoeben mixed, I got a few compliments from Mrs. Santos (Kailee and Mia's mom), Kailee, and a few others. Their compliments are so meaningful, but I never know if they really mean it or not. I mean after the first race I stroked in, Jesse--a fellow paddler--told me that I should be in Satteru or something. Then I asked him if he was saying that to everybody, and he said no. (But I think he's lying.) Also, Mrs. Santos said I should stay stroker. That made me really happy because stroking is my thing, and I love doing it. Kailee and Mia each said good job, and all that stuff. Geez, I love my team.

Oh, and Annabel was there. Serious (that's her last name). When Elisa and Keziah first saw her, Elisa jumped on her and Keziah started crying. She must really mean something to them (: After all the races were done, Kailee introduced me to her friends Gabby and...FREAK! I forgot her name. It was a nice name though, with two syllables. Carter? Brooklyn? Ugh, I really forgot. Or maybe it was Madison. Philip Callos was also there, with his younger brother. I'm surprised they didn't leave after an hour or something. It wasch a hot day. Oh, and Laura showed up too! I don't think she stayed too long, because she ran away from Westin (where she and her family were spending the night) to support us. Did I tell you that she quit? Well, she did. I feel mad and sad at the same time.

Nevermind that now. Let's move on to food. There were egg sandwiches, KFC, hotdogs, and chili. There were also a lot of drinks and fruits. Yum; such a good way to end a very tiring Saturday morning.

Before we left, Elisa stated that she wanted to go to Denny's, so there we went. I really don't like slow-food restaurants, but they're okay once in a while, I guess. I had a grilled chicken salad. It wasn't that good, but that's probably because I already ate at the beach.

After each race, I said good job/good luck to about thirty people from different teams. I hope I made a lasting impression.

By the way, I can't wait until we get our new uniforms! This morning's game was our last with our temporary, makeshift uniforms. (I wore a black long-sleeve and my volleyball tank top.) It's going to be simply amazing when we get ours because we got to choose any nickname to go on the back of our rashguards. Want to know what mine says? Come to my race.

And so ends my longest blog so far.
